Main duties of the job

Supporting the Multi-Disciplinary Team: Assist in delivering delegated care to patients undergoing Day Case Surgery, working alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Patient Care: Provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring they receive the support and attention they need throughout their surgical journey.

Personal Healthcare: Assist with aspects of personal care as directed by the multi-professional team, ensuring patients' comfort and dignity are maintained at all times.

Health Promotion and Advice: Support the delivery of health promotion and discharge advice to empower patients to make informed health decisions, ensuring they feel confident and supported upon leaving the unit.

Maintaining the Department Environment: Carry out assigned duties to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment, ensuring hygiene standards and patient safety are always upheld.

- Educated to Vocational Qualification/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of education, training or experience
- Holds National Care Certificate or equivalent level of education, training or experience (e.g. able to demonstrate the skill and competency to undertake the clinical duties as described in the job description)
- Holds Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English or education equivalent
Desirable
- Speciality specific training and competencies achieved and ongoing development
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Experience working in as a Healthcare Assistant in an healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control and Safeguarding processes
- Experience of working in a healthcare team and patient settings
- Experience of dealing with patient/relative verbal complaints
Skills

- Good communication and listening skills (written and verbal)
- Able to work on own initiative, following direction/close supervision by a Registered Practitioner
