Job summary

All Healthcare Assistant duties including supporting patients' personal comfort and hygiene requirements in the clinic environment.

Healthcare Assistants work as part of the outpatient team to support and facilitate outpatient service provision by performing and recording routine vital signs and other observations as required.

Other key skills for development are: Venepuncture, assisting in the minor operating theatre and chaperoning / assisting in patient assessment.

Healthcare Assistants in Gynaecology run their own clinics and assist the Doctors with Gynaecological procedures, which include colposcopy and hysteroscopy. TheHealthcare Assistant will also be supported in learning how to assist at Obstetric clinics.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should ideally have one year's previous relevant experience and have a pro-active approach to a rapidly changing service. Personal and professional development is encouraged and supported where applicable to the post. Flexibility regarding hours of duty and location is an essential requirement for this post.

This post is for 30 hours and is spread over Monday to Friday. The hours are between 8.30am and 6pm, we do not offer 12 hour shifts.

We offer gynaecology and Obstetric services at Kettering, Corby and Nene Park Outpatients, so applicants must have access to transport.

Outpatients are busy, friendly departments and the successful applicant will be required to undertake a range of varied tasks in support of clinical activity. A flexible approach is essential as you may be required to assist in Outpatient departments Trustwide according to service needs.
