Job summary
The Strategic Estates Communications and Engagement Manager will play a key role in delivering the communications and engagement strategy for Kettering General Hospital's New Hospital Programme (NHP) and related strategic estates projects.
The New Hospital Programme (NHP) is the largest hospital improvement programme in a generation and at Kettering General Hospital (KGH) it presents a momentous opportunity to radically improve and extend our services, with our circa £600m redevelopment including a new Emergency Department, Urgent Care Hub and six new wards.
Utilising your broad communication skills, you will develop and deliver strategies that will engage and influence the whole spectrum of stakeholders, not only to take them on the change journey but positively influence a culture that embraces new ways of working.
As well as the NHP, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead on the communications and engagement aspects across a range of other estate-related programmes across University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN).
This is a unique role for a strategic communicator that wants to lead the communications and engagement strategy for a momentous transformation programme. In exchange, you will join a dynamic communications team that is delivering communications and engagement activity across two different hospitals at a time of exciting growth and innovation.
Main duties of the job
- Manage communications and engagement strategy on assigned projects, including the NHP.
- Lead on the organisation of staff and public engagement events for the NHP.
- Be responsible for coordinating a delegated budget for NHP communications and engagement activities.
- Liaise with press and media, including developing media releases, hosting media briefings, organising advertising and deciding how to respond to media issues on sensitive or complex issues.
- Develop and design communications plans.
- Present communications on complex issues Trust-wide.
- Deliver the actions within communications plan on time and to budget.
- Work with external suppliers to commission and deliver campaign designs and materials.
- Facilitate media and VIP activity on site.
- Provide communications advice and training to clinical and operational leads, to assist them with delivery of their communications plans.
- Produce relevant and interesting information for staff using events, written materials, posters, emails, and intranet materials.
- Ensure all communications are aligned to the Trust's communications strategy and its objectives.
- Ensure effective timetabling of change communications for maximum impact and avoidance of confusion and duplication.
- Curate digital content
- Support the development and maintenance of web content
- Implement communication policies and procedures, proposing changes to policies as appropriate.
- Identify positive stories about the Trust and sell-in to the media.
