Job summary
The Maternity Services would like to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Ward Clerk to join our team for 30 hours per week.
You will be working on both the Delivery Suite and the Antenatal/Postnatal Ward, and the post has a fixed two-week working pattern of shifts which are 12 hour days, usually three shifts in the first week and two in the second. There is opportunity to cover staff absence.
12 hour shifts are worked by the whole team of Midwives, HCA's and Ward Clerks, to provide an all round comprehensive team of care givers and support staff.
Main duties of the job
Full clerical support to the team, including (but not limited to)
Providing a security conscious, warm welcome and orientation to patients and visitors to the Clinical Areas.
Admission and discharge of patients, including tracking notes and documentation to maintain accurate bed state.
Managing the phone lines, often this will be patients needing signposting to the correct area and/or basic advice - referring to the Midwifery Team appropriately.
Stationary stock management, ordering supplies and exploring options when specific equipment needs arise.
At all times maintain complete confidentiality and provide a positive image of the Trust.
Assist with the update of the overall appearance to the clinical areas, including ward boards and signage, promoting current information through maintaining supplies of information leaflets.
