Job summary

The post holder is responsible to the Medical Education Team Leader for managing and supporting clinical education programs within the Trust in the areas of Undergraduate, Foundation Programme and Postgraduate Medical Education, General Practitioner, Dental Education and for the Multidisciplinary Team.

The post holder liaises and works with the lead clinicians and senior managers to develop strategy for educational initiatives and to promote educational and training initiatives for the training of clinical professionals.

Main duties of the job

Provide the administrative co-ordination for: Undergraduate Medical Education; Foundation Training Programme; Postgraduate Training Programme; Dental Training Programme; General Practitioner Training Programme and other clinical training for the Multidisciplinary Team.

To be responsible for own day-to-day management of the office and the education centre and for the development, implementation and maintenance of office/education centre practices

To Provide support to the service users in room bookings, utilisation of resources and security.

Job responsibilities

Plan and prioritise own projects, working autonomously.

Produce reports and spread sheets in relation to Medical Education and the function of the Education Centre.

Work with internal and external training providers to facilitate training and education courses.

Support a broad range of training programmes and complex educational activities, including identification of training opportunities, Train the Trainers, and co-ordination of projects to assess and/or improve medical education.

Liaise on a day-to-day basis with trainees and be the first point of contact to resolve issues as they arise and to provide first line pastoral support for trainees and to mediate on occasion in matters of a personal or sensitive nature. Able to escalate when required.

Organising meetings at both local and national level.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and ensure courses are appropriate to the needs of the organisation and trainees.

Provide Personal Assistant duties for the Medical Education Team Leader and Medical Education Centre Manager and Director of Medical Education.

To organise and co-ordinate meetings, including preparation of agenda, diaries, minute taking and follow up actions including those associated with the Learning and Development Agreement, Medical School, GMC and HEE.

Actively participating in facilitating action plans for HEE Visits, GMC Visit and the GMC Survey.

  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject (or working towards) or equivalent level of qualification or previous proven experience
  • Understanding of Medical Education structures
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and dealing with sensitive and confidential information

  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Exceptionally strong in Excel.
