Job summary

The postholder is responsible for managing a range of tools and channels, and for planning and delivering communications and engagement activities for Kettering General Hospital and Northampton General Hospital. Working closely with senior members of the communications and engagement team, they also provide support across a range of internal and external communications and engagement activities across the Group.

  • Deliver assigned communications and engagement projects, campaigns and publications within agreed timescales and budget
  • Interpret complex information to produce interesting and engaging copy, and to ensure messaging is easily understood and accessible by a diverse range of audiences.
  • Maintain the Group's internal and external stakeholder list, ensuring that all stakeholder groups and individuals are captured and that contact details are up-to-date
  • Work closely with the Media and PR Manager to help manage media activity, g. handling enquiries, liaising with staff, patients and others, and generating content
  • Support the communications and engagement team in the delivery, organisation and administration of member, media, staff and other events, e.g. Trust awards, annual meetings etc.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop content for all channels including social media
  • Manage the communications and engagement planning 'grid', ensuring it is kept up-to-date with contributions from all members of the team and content calendar
  • Support more senior members of the team in the organisation and development of content for staff and member briefings
  • Liaise with colleagues in the 'Design and Digital' arm to ensure effective teamworking across the department
  • Work with colleagues in the design and digital arm to provide support as required, g. developing screensavers or simple graphics.
  • Provide occasional support and advice to members, the media and staff where relevant and appropriate
  • Provide ad hoc support to other team members of the department as required
  • Support all events, including online and face to face.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the 'Design and Digital' arm to ensure effective teamworking across the department
  • Undertake insight to evaluate the effectiveness of tools and channels, and contribute to continuous improvement of the department and its activities
  • Manage a calendar of relevant national/international days and anniversaries which can be used as 'hooks' for communications and media relations campaigns
