Job summary

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring a continued state of preparedness for the Trust to respond to any major or significant incident both planned and unscheduled ensuring, that where practical, measures are in place to maintain continuity of its core business.

The post holder will ensure that legal and regulatory requirements that apply to the Trust are met including training, planning and co-ordination working with NHSE/I, Local NHS Commissioners, multi-agency partners and the local resilience forum.

The post holder will further develop expertise in emergency planning that the Trust holds and seek to develop good practice by using lessons identified from experiences and debriefs of incidents, exercises and events nationally.

The post holder will ensure that emergency planning and resilience is an integral part of business planning, strategy and operations across the Trust.

The post holder would be required to be available in the event of a major or significant

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating all Business Continuity Activity (including Business Continuity Plans and Business Continuity Impact Analysis) and ensuring all areas have the right plans in place to respond to incidents and periods of disruption.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the preparation, maintenance, exercising and compliance of the Kettering General Hospital Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity and Resilience Plans in accordance with local and national guidance.

Responsible for ensuring that KGH is compliant with all statutory requirements appertaining to emergency and resilience planning with reference to the Civil Contingency Act and regulations which are derived from the Act including

a) The CCA 2004 and associated Cabinet Office Guidance

b) The NHS Act 2006 (as amended)

c) The NHS Constitution

d) The requirements for EPRR as set out in the NHS Standard Contract(s)

e) NHS England EPRR guidance and supporting materials including:

1. NHS England Core Standards for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response

2. NHS England Business Continuity Management Framework (service resilience) 2022

f) Other guidance available at http://www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/eprr/f) National Occupational Standards for Civil Contingencies

g) BS ISO 22301 Societal security - Business continuity management systems

h) Emergency Preparedness guidance (2012)

To ensure that the Trusts Major Incident and Business Continuity Plans are robust, regularly reviewed and updated and that effective communications arrangements are in place throughout the Trust.
