Job summary

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic and inspiring Nurse who is looking to develop in a Leadership role within Specialty Medicine.This post will be based on Naseby A ward which is a 20 bedded elderly medical ward for female patients.In this role you will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for patient flow on the ward.This role would suit a senior band 5 with 3 or more years of experience as a co-ordinator who is looking for career progression and a new challenge and can demonstrate some experience with ward management. There is an expectation to perform various initiatives and participating in teaching, audits and staff appraisals.You should be able to demonstrate a good range of experience evidence that you have skills in the coordination of care, typically through Nurse in Charge or Shift Leader Competencies.

We have a clear leadership vision and provide opportunities to develop in this role. Alongside an internal leadership development program we also link with local Universities and the East Midlands and NHS Leadership Academy. We actively encourage continual professional development and the implementation of new ideas which promote excellent patient care. Alongside leadership development we also have access to a vast range of clinical development modules related to the deputy sister/charge nurse post.

Main duties of the job

To work proactively to support the Matron in the delivery of high quality care and a positive patient experience of patients. Primarily this will be through effective role modelling of professional behaviours and the deployment of practice development and educationalmethodologies. This is to reassure that all staff are developed and supported to be competent and confident in roles and to in-still professional behaviours at all times.

The role of the nurse/midwife is to provide a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital, acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity; reporting adverse eventsand poor practice to the person in charge. The nurse/midwife would be expected to effectively and responsibly use resources and engage in change and service improvements. Standards of practice at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) are aligned to the standards set out by the Nursing & Midwifery (NMC) Code:
