Job summary
This post is available within the Ear, Nose & Throat department, offering the successful candidate(s) the opportunity to work and train within Otolaryngology. The contract is for 12 months and is a service post, but clinical and surgical training will be provided to suit the candidates needs. Duties will include working on a full-on call rota covering a range of clinical activities, ward rounds, ENT on call, Maxillo-Facial on call, assessing ENT emergency admissions, supporting the emergency theatres at both Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital, as well as the opportunity to attend operating lists and outpatient clinics.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
- Otolaryngology ward rounds covering the Head and Neck Ward, Elective patients.
- Otolaryngology on calls covering admissions through the emergency department, emergency clinic, theatres, and outpatients' clinics (training and support will be provided in the form of an induction to ENT and regular departmental teaching) as well as supporting the wards with admitted patients.
- Maxillo-Facial on call providing initial clerking and resuscitation of patient before discussion with Maxillo-Facial registrar on call.
- Supporting otolaryngology cases in the emergency theatre when required
- Attending elective theatre lists and outpatients' clinics to support your learning and development
- Clinical governance including the participation in effective clinical audit and continuing medical education
- Contribute to department audit and research with consultant supervision. Opportunities are available to undertake personal research and enhance CV.
- Participation in regional ENT meetings, by creating and presenting ENT specific projects or research.
- Participation in teaching programmes for medical staff, medical students and other hospital employees as required.
