Job summary
Cardiology at Kettering General Hospital has seen exponential growth over the last 5 years. We are therefore looking for an intuitive Echo Physiologist to join our young and dynamic team. The position is also offered with a 17.5% recruitment and retention bonus.
This is offered as a band 7 with BSE accreditation or Band 6 who is working towards accreditation.

We have all the facilities of a tertiary-equivalent Centre, including a modern digital echo lab performing the full range of complex scans including DSE and TOE, regular paediatric clinics and some satellite echo clinics and the support of fourteen proactive Cardiologists who have an active role within the Echo service.
We are very proud of our Physiologist-led stress echo and contrast / bubble service.We attend cardiac arrests to undertake FEEL scans, undertaking real life-saving work in the most unwell patients.We also see large numbers of Paediatric and GUCH patients, as well as Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic's, TILT table testing and Loop Recorder implants
Main duties of the job
We are very proud of our Physiologist-led stress echo and contrast / bubble service.We attend cardiac arrests to undertake FEEL scans, undertaking real life-saving work in the most unwell patients.We also see large numbers of Paediatric and GUCH patients, as well as Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic's, TILT table testing and Loop Recorder implants.
Main duties will involve:
- Main duties include inpatient/outpatient Echo's

- TOE's
- Paediatric Echo
- Scanning and reporting independently
- Train junior staff members
- Maintain CPD
- Present cases at the weekly MDT with NGH
Cardiac Investigations is host to 10 Echo Physiologists, 11 Interventional Cardiac Physiologists, 2 Specialist Cardiac Nurses, 4 Cardiographers, 2 Apprentices and 1 STP student, as well as a fully established admin team. We also have 14 proactive Cardiologists.
There is an expectation to help mentor and train students
About us
Cardiac Investigations department has recently had a complete rebuild which now incorporates offices on the first floor. We have an impressive Echo suit which has MDT and training facilities.
We actively encourage CPD, often have in-house training sessions and company supported courses.
Cardiac investigations has a total of 42 staff members who all have very good working relationships.

We have newly refurbished Catheter Labs and a fully refurbished Cardiac Investigations department, all of which are less than 2 years old.
We are very proud of our Physiologist-led stress echo and contrast / bubble service.We attend cardiac arrests to undertake FEEL scans, undertaking real life-saving work in the most unwell patients.We also see large numbers of Paediatric and GUCH patients, as well as Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics, TILT table testing and Loop Recorder implants.
We take pride in our Physiologist led services including Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics, Complex Echocardiography, TILT table testing and Loop Recorder implants.
We have a comprehensive Heart Failure service as part of a truly multi-disciplinary team, including Physiologist-led CRT optimisation and follow up clinics
Provision of a 24/7 Primary PCI service to the South East Midlands area.
High volume complex PCI (including frequent retrogrades) with routine use of IVUS, OCT, laser and rotablation delivered through 3 cath labs.
All of our Cardiac Physiologists are trained to the highest level and can work independently during Complex implants, follow-ups and all areas of PCI

We have a local training pathway that is currently supporting junior staff members to become accredited and we have future plans to recruit more students so you will be actively involved in Education.

Kettering General Hospital is currently in the process of collaborative working with Northampton General Hospital.
This collaboration will lead to opportunities in EP as we are setting up an EP service at one of the sites.There is easy road access to much of the country with London 50mins away by rail. The beautiful residential towns of Stamford, Market Harborough and Uppingham are all within easy reach of the hospital, as is the City of Leicester which is known for its shopping, culture and leisure.
There has also been significant recent investment in the neighboring town of Corby within the past 2 years, with a new town center which hosts many popular shops and an ever expanding area of new bars and restaurants; however this has not affected the cost of living in the area.
