An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Registered nurses to join Barnwell B ward, trauma and orthopedic ward, Kettering General Hospital, for a fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave for 212 Months.
Barnwell B is a 24-bedded ward caring for surgical trauma and orthopedic patients. The primary focus is on patient care post-surgery or management of their condition. Full and part time hours are available.
The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring all aspects of nursing care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialities.
The role of the nurse is to provide a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital, acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity, reporting adverse events and poor practice to the person in charge. The nurse would be expected to use resources and engage in change and service improvements effectively and responsibly.
The post holder will always act in accordance with the NMC code and local standards of care and policies.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview assessment centre in person.
There is no option for this to be virtual and this will take place on Saturday 8th July.

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
Take responsibility for a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, in the absence of the senior nurse or person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility.
Responsible for managing a group of staff in the absence of the senior nurse.

- To work effectively and communicate with the multi-disciplinary team regarding patient care notifying and escalating to them any changes in patients condition or other useful information. Contribute in effective handovers of patient care between shifts, other departments and other healthcare providers.
- To communicate effectively with patients and carers regarding all aspects of care, admission, preparation for procedure, care delivery post procedure, discharge, medications etc. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation will be needed. Barriers to communication may be physical, cognitive or cultural; i.e. poor hearing, altered perception, pain, or fear. This might be complex, sensitive or contentious information where empathy and reassurance is required.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times in relation to patients and their treatment.
- To take responsibility to ensure that Professional Registration is up to date at all times and does not lapse or expire and to inform line management immediately with any concerns or if registration lapses or expires.
- Maintain effective relationships within the trust by attending team and departmental meetings. Annual leave is requested in a timely manner in line with Trust policy.
- Sickness/ Maternity/Paternity and Special leave is notified to the department/ line manager in accordance with Trust policy.
- To complete patient documentation in a concise, accurate and timely manner in line with departmental, Trust and NMC standards.
- Informed consent to treatment is obtained and documented in accordance with Trust procedures. Keep accurate and complete records consistent with legislation policies and procedures.
