Job summary
Applications are invited for Trust Grade SHO posts within ourGeneral Medicine Departments. The postis a rotational post and will involve working invariousspecialties includingCardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology,Care of the Elderly and Acute Medicine.This position is NOT recognised for Training by the Postgraduate Deanery and is therefore open to all applicants who meet the required criteria. However, we have made a commitment to offer and support training and you will be assigned your own Educational Supervisor.
The post is ideal for candidates that maybeinterested in joining a Deanery Training programme andbroadening theirexperience within the NHS and medical specialties.
You will be expected to be part of the General Medicine on-call team after a probation period (which will depend on your level of experience) Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust is an Acute District Hospital and we employ over 3,100 staff, we serve a population of around 360,000 across North Northants, South Leicestershire and into Rutland.

Main duties of the job
The Medicine Division at KGH handles medical admissions of all ages. The Directorate includes the following specialties: Cardiology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Care of the elderly, Respiratory Medicine, General Medicine, Acute Medicine and Gastro.
Clinical:
The SHO will be responsible with the Registrar for the management of patients admitted to the Integrated Medical wards, ITU and CCU. He/she will supervise the FY1, be expected to attend Consultant ward rounds, also outpatient clinics and ward rounds with their medical teams. The SHO will work a full shift whilst on call. The Registrar is responsible for the medical management of each team.
Lilford Ward is part of the Medical Specialties Directorate and has an elective admission service, dealt with by the SHO covering Medical Specialties. Out of hours medical cover will be provided to Rheumatology, Dermatology and Haematology patients by the SHO on call. SHOs other than the dedicated doctor to the specialties may be required to work occasional day shifts in Medical Specialties in Rheumatology and Dermatology to cover the regular SHO, who may be away or off due to on call duties. This duty will normally fall to the SHO who is on call for CCU for the week.
