Job summary

We have a fantastic brand new opportunity to join the therapies team here at KGH. We would like to introduce a Band 5 Advanced Assistant Practitioner role to work within the Therapies Team at Kettering General Hospital.

You will join the Senior Leadership team and contribute to the development of the Therapies Support worker career pathway including identifying learning and educational requirements. You will be able to articulate the vision for developing the support worker workforce. You will have previous leadership experience which will enable you to work effectively as part of a team to lead and supervise a group of assistant practitioners and support workers.

Main duties of the job

Clinically you will work in an a area or areas to complement your clinical experience to date as an Advanced Assistant Practitioner within our integrated therapies team, providing high-quality, evidence-based care for patients within the acute wards. You must have significant experience at a senior AHP support worker level in ward-based acute health care drawing upon knowledge from either a relevant degree or equivalent substantial experience. You will be able to complete therapeutic assessments, implement rehabilitation programmes and support discharge planning.

You will be supported with regular supervision, mentoring opportunities and development within the therapies leadership team .

Qualifications and Education

Essential

  • Either combination of academic attainment and vocational experience (equivalent to degree level) based on oAcademic qualifications in maths and english (NVQ level 2) and additional study in subjects relating to health and social care (NVQ level 4); oSignificant experience in applied clinical practices oOr clinical degree (NVQ level 6)
  • Expertise within specialism, underpinned by theory and practical experience
  • CPD portfolio demonstrating previous and ongoing attendance at recent postgraduate training and development relevant to the role

Desirable

  • Associate member of CSP or RCOT
  • Qualification in Anatomy and Physiology

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant clinical experience at senior support worker level managing other team members
  • Evidence of appropriate competencies at Assistant or Assistant Practitioner level within Therapy or healthcare.
  • Good working experience within ward-based healthcare gathered over a reasonable period of time.
  • In-depth knowledge & understanding of Therapy role within the inpatient Therapy Team.
  • Working knowledge of Excel & Word Computer programmes
  • Ability to work across 7 day service
  • Work within a community based setting
  • Past responsibility for training/supervising other support staff

  • Recent relevant work in an NHS environment
