Job summary
ENT LOCUM CONSULTANT
Any exciting opportunity for applications for a locum consultant post in the Northamptonshire department of ENT Head and Neck Surgery for up to 23 months with a view to substantive long term. These are full time posts which are part of a well-established consultant team across the Northampton shire combined Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) service operating out of Kettering General Foundation Hospital (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH). The post holder will have on-call responsibilities, which are currently 1 in 10, and come with 1 PA and 4% on-call availability supplement. The job plan includes access to urgent / routine outpatient referrals and in-patient and day surgery list.
The ENT departments based at KGH and the NGH have recently joined under the Northamptonshire Sustainability and Transformation
Partnership (STP). This joining of acute services has paved the way for the transformation of provisions in the ENT pathways across the region, as we work towards our ambition of a fully integrated ENT service covering the whole county.
KGH and NGH, in combination, offer comprehensive ENT Specialised Head and Neck cancer service that also covers Buckinghamshire serving a population of 1 million. The Head and Neck Cancer service is based at the Northampton Hospital site.
These roles will both be based mainly at KGH.
Main duties of the job
The Consultants provide on-call cover Monday -Friday 9 am - 5 pm for Kettering and share out of hours on call with five other consultants from Northampton General Hospital and Milton Keynes (until Oct 2021) then KGH & NGH on call covering two bases out of hours on a 1:8 on call rota.
