Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Trust Grade Specialist Registrar in Rheumatology. The post will commence in February 2022 and will be based at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is offered as full time permanent or on a fixed term basis for 12 months initially and can be extended to 2 years provided satisfactory performance.The post-holder will join a friendly and dynamic Rheumatology team and this job provides a valuable opportunity for a doctor planning a career in rheumatology. The commitments include Out-Patient clinics, performing specialist ward referrals and supporting junior trainees in providing biologics therapies & other infusions in the day unit.

Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise and have obtained MBBS (or equivalent). Main duties of the job

The post is based within the Rheumatology Unit at Kettering General Hospital.

The post holder will join a friendly & dynamic Rheumatology team comprising of 3 Consultants, 1 Specialist Registrar (East Midlands rotation with National Training Number), 1 Trust grade Specialist Registrar (this post), 1 GP trainee/SHO grade, 1 Foundation Year one (shared 50% with Dermatology) & 4 Rheumatology Nurse Practitioners.

The post involves responsibility for participation in the Rheumatology Service at the Kettering General Hospital. This consists of: out-patient clinics, responsibility for timely review of Rheumatology in-patient referrals, and liaison with junior doctors to ensure the timely and safe delivery of biological therapies & other infusions in the day unit. The post-holder will be fully supervised by the Rheumatology Consultants.

There is a weekly departmental meeting and weekly hospital Grand Roundsduring academic term times. There are regular cohorts of medical students(from University of Leicester) within the department and the post-holder isexpected to contribute to their teaching. There will be opportunities to conduct audits and take part in regional (eg; Midlands Rheumatology Society) meetings.
