Job summary

We are looking for a Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social worker who is passionate about supporting service users in their recovery, engaging and involving families in care planning and using formulation to help service users understand their experiences?

If this is you then the North Tyneside Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team would love you to join the team.

The post is a Band 6 Community Practitioner role working across North Tyneside, offering interventions to 14 - 65 year olds who are thought to be developing a first episode of psychosis.

You will work as part of a Multi disciplinary Team (MDT), be involved in assessing and providing interventions to service users as well as supporting families, whilst also working collaboratively with other professionals. The service is committed to developing the skills of practitioners, so there will be opportunities to develop further clinical skills. You will be involved in care co-ordination, but with a caseload of 15 allowing greater opportunity to offer interventions / treatment.

Main duties of the job

In the role as a community practitioner you will:

- Triage referrals and allocate for assessment where appropriate.

- Undertake initial assessment, feedback to MDT.

- Act as point of contact for referrals and calls where they are not able to wait.

- Manage a complex caseload, complete risk assessment and care planning, liaise with other professionals within and external to the team .

- Effectively deliver evidence based interventions and support care planning.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions.
  • Mentor Training.
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.

Desirable

  • Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions including CBT and/or family interventions.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
