Assistant Psychologist

Job summary

We have a vacancy for an assistant psychologist to work within the Trust's inpatient service, Mitford (located in Northgate Hospital, Morpeth, Northumberland), that provides for autistic adults with significant co-occurring conditions (e.g. severe mental health conditions) who require admission to hospital. Psychological services are a key part of the multidisciplinary team within Mitford and you will be involved in supporting the delivery of psychological approaches (including psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within a Positive Behaviour Support model) within Mitford. There will also be opportunities to undertake clinical research within Mitford. You will work with an experienced and highly motivated clinical team and receive high quality supervision.

The post is based within Mitford but may require travel across the Trust's geographical patch.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's main duties are to assist qualified clinical psychologists in the delivery of psychological provision; providing psychological assessment and specific interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. The post holder will be involved in clinically related service delivery, administration, data collection, development of research projects, teaching and project work.

  • Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society.

  • Post Graduate Qualifications

  • Ability to work in MDTs

  • Research and Audit Skills
  • Competence in managing research databases and statistics
  • Paid or unpaid work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
