Job summary
We are recruiting to a 0.4 wte Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Psychological Therapist post for a period of 12 months to be a trial manager/coordinator (note the post may be extended if we are successful in recruiting to the trial).
The post is responsible for helping to coordinate and deliver two funded studies led by University of Oxford (Sleeping Better and Feeling safer; led by Professor Daniel Freeman and Dr Felicity Waite). The post holder will help manage, and deliver on these two trials, including managing the trial coordinator for the sleeping better study and acting as trial coordinator for Feeling Safer.
The post will help ensure the successful delivery of these trials, managing research assistants, therapists, and working closely with the trial site PI, and central team as well as local R and D, and services to ensure the studies are delivered to a high standard.
Main duties of the job
This post would suit someone who is a skilled clinician, experienced in working with psychosis, and in running clinical trials.
The main duties will include
1) to work to deliver the sleeping better and feeling safer trials, on time and to standard
2) to manage staff (research assistants, research therapists) and to ensure that research assessments and treatment is delivered safely, and adheres to protocols.
3) to liaise with the local site PI (Robert Dudley) and the local R and D team to ensure research is conducted to a high standard
4) to work with local clinical services to help promote the study and help meet recruitment targets
5) to supervise the therapy delivery, supporting therapists providing the interventions with help, advise, guidance.
6) to develop and use specialist skills at assessing and formulating persecutory delusions in the context of psychosis.

With training and expert supervision, to develop and use specialist skills at assessing and formulating persecutory delusions in the context of psychosis.
To form excellent relationships with clinical teams in order to support recruitment of patients into the trial and provide co-ordinated care for patients receiving the intervention.
Responsibility for the organisation, day-to-day management, and running of one site of a large randomised controlled trial with patients with psychosis and persecutory delusions. It will be particularly important to meet recruitment targets, ensure a high retention rate in the trial, and a high uptake of the Feeling Safer treatment.
To supervise other staff in the delivery of the treatment, ensuring high rates of engagement and fidelity to the protocol.
To supervise the research assistants working on the trial, ensuring recruitment targets are achieved, assessments are completed, and blinding of research assessors is maintained.
To provide regular reports on the progress of the study. This will include providing information required by the funder.
Recruitment and provision of the intervention will occur in CNTW Trust. This means there will be extensive travel across the large geographical area both to clinical teams and patient homes, which would be facilitated by having valid driving licence, and access to own or other independent means of transport.
Good record-keeping and report writing will be needed, in line with trial and Trust protocols.
Working to standard operational procedures for the trial will be expected.
Attendance at supervision will be expected, and at appropriate research team meetings, including at the lead site, Oxford.
You will need to work some irregular hours occasionally to fit with patient availability.
Administrative duties related to the project.
Other duties appropriate to the grade as directed.
Work within the guidelines set out by the Data Protection Act, the Code of Ethics, and with full understanding of confidentiality issues.
