Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of mental health, learning disability and neurological care services across the north of England.

The Library and Knowledge Services team at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Clinical Effectiveness Librarian. We deliver high quality, customer-focused library and knowledge services to staff and students. As part of a dispersed team working from four libraries, you will play a key role in supporting staff and students across the organisation to access and use evidence-based resources to inform their practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • manage, deliver and evaluate an efficient evidence search service to inform decision making at all levels.
  • keep colleagues up to date with recently published evidence.
  • deliver and promote services to support evidence-based practice and lifelong learning including designing, delivering and evaluating library inductions and training.
  • work with colleagues, regional and national networks, and external partners to maintain and share good practice within recognised frameworks.

  • Degree in Library and Information Management or Science
  • Chartered Librarian or willingness to achieve

Experience

Essential

  • Two year's library experience at a senior level.
  • Experience of supporting complex enquiries through in-depth searching and retrieval of evidence-based information.
  • Experience in the development and provision of training programmes.
  • Experience of providing support to library users.
  • Knowledge of NHS electronic resources.
  • Understanding of the NHS and its priorities.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within mental health, learning disability or NHS service.
  • Development of outreach/remote library services
  • Experience of people management.

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent IT skills and use of online library systems and resources.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective motivator and negotiator.
  • Ability to use own expertise, judgement and initiative to plan workload, solve problems and allocate resources.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise own workload and achieve deadlines.
