Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who has experience and knowledge in wound care and leg ulcer management and will have completed a tissue viability module or willing to complete one.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Tissue Viability Team lead, delivering evidence-based practice and be able to work independently and autonomously within clinical practice, having oversight of a patient caseload, but also supporting the strategic role of developing our Tissue Viability Service and collaborating on physical health work across the trust.

Good interpersonal skills are essential as you will be communicating with a wide range of health professionals involved in the patients care. Training and education will also be delivered to staff, patients, and carers.

Travel is an integral part of this post you must be prepared to travel across the CNTW footprint which covers Carlisle, Morpeth, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside , Prudhoe and Middlesbrough.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the delivery of tissue viability and wound care within CNTW, providing professional and clinical support to ensure evidence-based nursing practices. They will promote excellence in tissue viability and wound management, assisting in developing, coordinating, and delivering patient care policies. Compassionate care, centred on empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity, will be at the heart of their practice, ensuring clients are central to treatment decisions.

The post holder will work flexibly to support the Tissue Viability Nurse Lead, coordinating trust-wide tissue viability initiatives to achieve high-quality care, and deputising as required. They will contribute to achieving performance indicators, essential standards, and quality outcomes. Additionally, they will help plan, implement, and deliver training to enhance workforce knowledge and skills.

Time management will be key in balancing service delivery and education, ensuring compliance with legislation while maintaining effective systems for surveillance, prevention, treatment, and investigation of tissue viability incidents.

Essential

  • Current first level registered nurse (e.g.RGN, RMN, RNLD or equivalent)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Qualification to Degree level or actively studying towards.
  • Mentor Training
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
