Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Woodwork Hub at Northgate Park.

The post holder's focus will be to work towards creating and supporting woodwork and joinery activities within secure care's inpatient service, this role sits within the Recovery and Engagement team's Woodwork and Garpo (Horticulture) hub. Both services provide and co-ordinate a range of workshop activities, it is essential applicant have skills in one or both areas. The successful candidate will be supported to do addition training to improve the service provided to the patients.

The main purpose of this role is to support patient training in woodwork/joiner and horticultural task, this is a very active role and a good level of physical fitness is required.

This service aims to mirror a real life work experience for our patients, providing opportunities to learn new skills as well being given the opportunity to complete national certificate.

Main duties of the job

Plan and implement programmes of activities within a framework established by the Department Lead.

Maintain a safe secure working environment for patients and colleagues

To work within a busy workshop environment, ensuring PPE and Health and Safety requirements are followed.

Contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and modification of interventions, in order to monitor progress and ensure effectiveness.

Demonstrate ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of service users which may include working evenings to support sessions.

Provide group activities and individual patient support

Provide feedback to the multi-disciplinary team and contribute when asked to.

  • Qualification NVQ Level III or Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship or commitment to work towards or equivalent level of knowledge or experience

Knowledge and Experience
