Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an Art Psychotherapist to work across into our Inpatient Rehabilitation Adult Mental Health wards at St George's Park in Morpeth, Northumberland.

You will be joining the Psychological Services Inpatient team. Our team is made up of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Art Psychotherapists and Assistant Psychologists. We are a friendly, inclusive and diverse group of practitioners who bring a range of interests, experience and skills to the work we do. The Psychology team is well embedded into the respective wards within each pathway but are also located together in terms of office space at St George's Park which means that we maintain strong working relationships with each other across pathways as well.

The post holder will also be part of the Arts Therapies Trust wide Team and will receive regular clinical supervision from a Senior Art Psychotherapist.

We welcome informal conversations about the post.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based across two of our rehabilitation units which are part of the complex psychosis pathway. One of our wards is male only and the other is a mixed ward. The wards have had art psychotherapy input over the past five years, and this is a become an established and valued part of our provision.

A working day is often varied but may include attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings, individual art therapy sessions, and delivery of an art therapy group. There may also be delivery of team reflective practice and supervision of Trainee Art Psychotherapists, as well as involvement in service related projects. The post holder would be working closely alongside the wider Psychology team, and each ward has a Practitioner Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist who also covers the ward.

About us

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
