Job summary
This is a full time Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine post of 10 Programmed Activities per week. Part time applicants are welcome to apply and sessions are negotiable.
The successful applicant will be based at Walkergate Park which isdesignated as a Level 1 Rehabilitation centre by NHS England. They will join an established team of 6 Rehabilitation Consultants, 1 Specialist Grade and 1 Specialty Doctor.
The Neurorehabilitation service provides highly specialised and integrated multidisciplinary rehabilitation for 35 inpatients with acquired neurological disability. It works jointly with neuropsychiatrists to provide neurobehavioural rehabilitation for 14 inpatients. Specialist nursing and medical expertise is applied to allow patients to benefit from highly structured and flexible rehabilitation programmes delivered by experienced and dedicated teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuro-psychologists, social and recreational therapists and related disciplines.

Main duties of the job
The duties will include:
Outpatient clinic (3.5 PAs)
- MS rehab clinics- 2.0
- Head injury clinics (NHIS)- 1.5; these are based in Morpeth
Please note, clinics have 3 hours of face-to-face time and an hour of clinical admin time (this is in addition to additional clinical admin PA)
Outreach visits/clinics (1PA)
- Home visits/MS outreach (monthly) in Alnwick or Berwick (alternatively)
Inpatient session (2 PA)
- Ward rounds for 8-10 patients
- MDT/Team review for patients
- Clinical admin
Clinical admin for ward cover
SPA/CPD/ Revalidation activity (2.5 PAs)
- 2.5 programmed activities are allocated to supporting professional activities, including continuing professional development research, audit, teaching and service development and attend weekly consultant meetings which also doubles for peer support.
