Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in older adult services across Northumberland

Our Older Adult Services provide specialist mental health assessment and intervention for older persons with complex and enduring mental health problems, including those younger persons with an ongoing dementia type illness. The multi -disciplinary team comprises a highly skilled and experienced workforce of Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

We also have close working relationships with Social Care and other partnership organizations

We deliver a wide range of evidence-based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. We have developed a comprehensive supervision structure for staff including individual supervision and peer support through our clinical networks linked to our care pathways. We believe in the development of all our staff and encourage personal development.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint RMN's/RGN's with a wide range of experience working with mental health clients. The successful candidate will be innovative, forward thinking, diverse and can work autonomously. They will need excellent communication skills both written and verbal with a good knowledge of different mental health interventions.

We are keen to recruit a Band 6 Practitioner with experience in working with older adults and with experience of collaborative working with both partner agencies and the multi-disciplinary team.

The team operates across the hours of 9.00 to 5 pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility to meet client needs

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Mentor Training.
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation

Knowledge and Experience

  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills
