Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the South of Tyne Children and Young Peoples Service, based in Sunderland. We are recruiting Band 6 Community Practitioner to work into our Neurodevelopmental Disorder Pathway.

Our service is fully integrated and provides specialist Neurodevelopmental assessment and signposting to partner agencies and services for post diagnostic support; mental health assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex and enduring mental health problems, including those with a learning disability. The multi-disciplinary team comprises of a highly skilled and experienced workforce.

Main duties of the job

We deliver a wide range of evidence based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. We have developed a comprehensive supervision structure for staff including individual clinical and management supervision and peer support, through our care pathways. We offer many interventions to young people and their families, and offer training via our internal training programme.

Our Neurodevelopmental Team undertakes assessment, diagnosis and intervention with children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Clinicians will contribute to the multi- disciplinary assessment and diagnosis of children and young people. Interventions include parenting programmes, post diagnostic psycho-social education for families and young people. The team also operate medication monitoring and review clinics for those children and young people with ADHD.

We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with children and young people, and who can work collaboratively with partner agencies and who can work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The team operates across the hours of 8.00 to 8.00 Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 9-5.

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
