Job summary
CNTW's Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies Services (SPTS) is known regionally and nationally for its expertise in complex psychological assessment, formulation & treatment, education & training, innovation and research across a wide range of specialist modalities. These modalities include complex CBT, Psycho-dynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy and EMDR.
In the context of wider service developments including the NHS LTP and Community Transformation for MH services for adults and older adults, we are reviewing the role and function of our specialist psychological therapy services, particularly as part of our work to develop and embed community transformation. We are also working with colleagues to implement service improvements to enable us to deliver more timely access to specialist therapies.
The role of Head of the SPTS will play a key role in leadership and facilitation of excellent internal and external collaboration, working with the 0.2 wte Service Improvement Lead to support the delivery of service improvement action plans and engagement in the wide transformation programmes.
Main duties of the job
The Head of the Centre will:
Lead on the further development of the SPTS as a specialist centre, facilitating opportunities for cross-modality/services working and effective collaboration between specialities and teams.
Identify and lead on innovations that support service specification, enhance clinical efficiency and ensure timely access to specialist psychological therapies.
Further develop the clinical governance of the services within the centre and its strategic direction
Provide clinical leadership and profession specific guidance to senior psychological services staff.
Support the further development of trauma informed and relationally focussed therapies at a specialist and tertiary level.
Ensure that clinical service delivery and development is integrated with the Trust's development and implementation of Community Transformation for Adults and Older Adults.

Education and Qualification
Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the British Psychological Society; or relevant mental health qualification MSc or RMN or equivalent degree qualification in mental health and registered and accredited post qualification in evidence based Psychological Therapist eg. BABCP registered CBT Practitioner.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, NMC or appropriate professional body for professions that do not have statutory registration..
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society and as required by the Health and Care Professions Council/NMC/Professional Body.
- Significant incremental experience of working as a qualified Psychological practitioner, including significant experience within the designated specialty where the post is located.
- Formal training in supervision of Psychological Professions.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of Psychological practice.
- Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified psychological professions..
