As a SAS doctor in Children and Young People's Service you'll know how best to support the young people and their families in our care. Working 10PAs a week over 5 days alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.

This is a full-time post to provide medical input into Children and Young People's Mental Health services in Newcastle/Gateshead, working across Mental Health and the Neurodevelopmental Pathway. The post holder will be joining a dynamic group of experienced medical and non-medical colleagues who are committed to working hard for the benefits of patients and their families. There are significant opportunities to become involved in service development, and excellent links with local Universities with opportunities for teaching and research, linked to Medical Schools at the Universities of Newcastle and Sunderland.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Skills and Qualities
- Up to date clinical knowledge and experience, working across Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective with wide medical knowledge.
Main duties:
- Clinical assessment of children and adolescents.
- Management and treatment of mental health disorders in children and Adolescents.
- Clinical leadership
- Working with the multi-disciplinary team to develop shared decision making
- Working with partner agencies to develop formulation/diagnosis and ongoing care.
- Clinical administration and report writing
You will have your own office space and will have dedicated administrative support. This is a substantive and full-time post however we would be happy to consider applicants available on a part time or fixed term basis, or those seeking flexible working.
