Job summary

The Neuropsychiatry Outpatients' Team has great pleasure in seeking a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner (AHP) to join our existing team, based at Walkergate Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne. This post provides a rare and exciting opportunity to join an established Multidisciplinary Team working in the sometimes challenging but rewarding specialism of Neuropsychiatry. You will work closely with Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy colleagues. We are a regional service which covers the Northeast of England and Cumbria. As this post will involve travelling to various locations and lone community-based working, you must be able to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the role. Our service is currently provided from Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:30 - 09:00 - 17:00 (excluding Bank Holidays). The post is full time at 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

You will predominantly be providing community-based person-centered therapeutic programmes of care with people who have Huntington's Disease. Additionally, you may work in conjunction with other professionals in supporting people who present with a broad range of Neuropsychiatric conditions, including, but not exclusively, Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury, Tourette's, Parkinson's and Epilepsy.

You will require the ability to work autonomously, implement, follow and update plans of care, which have been developed in collaboration with service users, families/carers, and members of the Multidisciplinary Team. You will have responsibility for making onward referrals to other services and liaising with appropriate regional organisations in placing orders for equipment to meet Service User needs.

You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be IT literate, and have a flexible approach to the role to meet the changing service demands as the service model develops.You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe patient care and be a role model in reflecting the Trusts vison and core values. You will work in a highly supportive environment and will be provided with regular supervision and have the opportunity to undertake Continued Professional Development.
