Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the small team at the Patient Information Centre. The Centre, based at St Nicholas Hospital provides a high quality health information service to the public, patients, carers, NHS staff and external agencies.

You will need to be possess excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to use your initiative to solve enquiries with limited supervision, manage your own time effectively and have attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

You must enjoy working with the public and have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, desktop publishing packages and the internet.

Duties will include producing patient information leaflets, dealing with health information enquiries, sourcing information, despatching orders (some heavy lifting required), data input, general administration duties, and website updates.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Word-processing skills at Level 3 (OCR/RSA Level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or demonstrable relevant experience) eg; NVQ Level 3 Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent)
  • Willing to work towards ECDL or similar qualification.
  • General level of education to O-Level/ GCSE or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years experience in an office environment preferably within the NHS.
  • Experience of working in a busy customer service environment
  • Experience of handling and storing confidential information effectively
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, associated databases, Excel, Access, Outlook and the Internet.
  • A high standard of word-processing (RSA II or equivalent)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, associated databases, Excel, Access, Outlook and the Internet.

  • Good standard of literacy skills (able to draft response to standard letters) and respond to routine information enquiries.
