Job summary

Are you an experienced, and enthusiasticIPT Supervisor or Trainerwho can be instrumental to the clinical development of our recently established IPT Team?

If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen based withinThe Centre forSpecialist Psychological Therapiesfor a permanent 30 hour per week post to replace a retiring colleague and provide additional IPT training to doctors in psychiatry. You will work alongside two friendly, supportive, and experienced IPT Trainers within the recently developed IPT service and Newcastle IPT Training Institute. You will assess and treat patients, deliver supervision, and deliver training. With support from your colleagues, you will spend two days per week developing and delivering a newly established training for doctors in psychiatry to gain experience in IPT.

The Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies provides a range of specialist psychotherapeutic modalities and post qualification training. It sits within Specialist Services in CNTW, an outstanding mental health provider NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an IPT supervisor or IPT Trainer to deliver excellent standards around assessment, treatment, supervision, and training. We hope the successful person will bring an interest in working with a range of clinical presentations, know how to manage complexity, and be able to contribute to the assurance, governance and clinical service delivery and clinical outcomes in collaboration with people with lived experience. Education and qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of post graduate study in specialist areas relevant to this field of practice
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health and Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma).
  • HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner. Or Member of an appropriate professional body

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of complex assessments, treatment plans and outcome measures for adults with symptoms, or a diagnosis, of personality disorder
  • Experience in supervising other psychologists/psychological therapists

Desirable

  • Advanced knowledge of trauma informed care

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Advanced skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations through self-management and use of the clinical supervision process.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical leadership skills
  • Highly developed skills and abilities to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Ability to support and advise other professionals working with this group of patients
