Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS North Cumbria Talking Therapies service to appoint a number of Trainee CBT Practitioners.

As part of CNTW we provide a range of evidenced based psychological interventions for people presenting with common mental health problems such as depression and a range of anxiety disorders. The NHS North Cumbria talking therapies service delivers interventions within a stepped model of care and our team includes a wide range of professionals, including Counsellors, CBT practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.

As a service we are currently offering a combination of Face to Face and remote working (telephone/video) either from one of our bases or working from home. This offers an opportunity for improved work/life balance. We anticipate that this will be the case ongoing.

Main duties of the job

The applicant will have an opportunity to train in delivering High Intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to patients with a range of complex common mental health problems. Working in collaboration with the University you will be employed by the service working both clinically at the same time as training.

  • Undertaking weekly/fortnightly training at university
  • Working in service on days when not in university
  • Organisation and the ability to balance a clinical caseload with the academic demands of university

The role of a High Intensity therapist involves delivering high quality, time limited, evidence-based therapy as recommended by NICE guidelines. This is what the post holder will be working and training towards, some of which involves;

  • Assessment
  • Formulation
  • Assess patient risk
  • Provide high intensity interventions in-line with current protocols
  • Use a range of delivery methods, such as face-to-face, telephone and web-based support
  • Undertake clinical supervision on a regular basis in line with relevant professional guidelines and service policies
  • Keep accurate records of clinical activity and use these in clinical decision making

The successful applicant will be able to commit to some study and travel in their own time.

The post-holder will work within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
