Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Community Acquired Brain Injury Service (CABIS) in a Band 7 to Band 8a preceptorship role. This position offers a pathway for professional growth, with the potential for an upgrade upon meeting competencies within 24 months.
CABIS is a well-established service in the Sunderland, Gateshead, and South Tyneside areas. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing new services in South Tyneside while supporting existing services in Sunderland and Gateshead. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to a dynamic, expanding service committed to improving the lives of those with ABI.
The post holder will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for conducting neuropsychological assessments and delivering specialist interventions to patients and their carers. These patients present with a range of complex clinical needs due to ABI and head injuries. Additionally, the role involves providing expert advice and support to other teams within Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW), as well as to local acute and community services. Main duties of the job
These roles encompass a broad range of responsibilities centred on delivering specialised psychological assessments and interventions. This includes conducting comprehensive cognitive assessments, collaboratively formulating treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to individual service users.
Key responsibilities include conducting both individual and group therapy sessions, as well as engaging families and carers in the therapeutic process. Additionally, the roles require providing support to multidisciplinary staff through regular supervision, team formulation sessions, and contributing to the understanding of complex risk factors. You will be involved in developing behaviour support plans, offering reflective practice sessions, and delivering training to the teams to enhance their skills and knowledge.Successful candidates will be fully supported to advance to a Band 8a role within two years of their initial appointment at Band 7. This progression will be contingent upon the successful completion of a mutually agreed development plan, demonstration of the requisite experience, skills, knowledge, and competencies, and a formal assessment of their suitability for advancement by an assessment panel.
If the specified requirements are not fully met within the two-year timeframe, the individual will continue to hold a Band 7 position. This outcome will be managed according to the contract conditions agreed upon at the start of their employment.
