Main duties of the job
IPSsupports individuals with serious mental illness find competitive, paid employment in a role that is specifically tailored to their individual needs. Employment Specialists work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the community and build strong relationships with clinical staff, service users, carers and employers to support individuals into work. A significant part of this role will consist of employer engagement and supporting individuals in the workplace once they have found employment to ensure that the placement is successful.

We are keen to recruit an Employment Specialist who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and have the skills to engage and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. We welcome applicants with various skills and experience in mental health services and/or employment services.
The base for this post will be in South Tyneside, and the post holder will be working predominantly within this locality, however may be expected to travel outside of this area on occasion. As this role will involve meeting people in the community, please ensure you are able to meet the travel requirements of this role.

Education and Qualification
Essential
- Multi-disciplinary team work.
- Proven ability to develop therapeutic partnership with service users and carers.
- Evidence of trust and service values and beliefs in working practice.
- Evidence of having unconditional positive regard for individuals experiencing serious mental health.
Desirable
- Minimum 2 years' experience of working with people with mental health problems or a similar user group
- Further relevant post qualifying training
- Experience of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience

- Understanding of the statutory issues which impact on service users.
