Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for you to have a role in direct patient care with opportunities to develop your clinical knowledge and skills.
We welcome applications from registered pharmacy technician colleagues working in all sectors of the profession. Prior experience working in mental health is not required as a comprehensive programme of training and clinical supervision will be provided.
We provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all of our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community teams, Clozapine clinics and crisis teams. Our Pharmacy staff are highly regarded as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be:
- Medicines reconciliation and review on admission.
- Providing support and information to patients and carers to assist with the management of their medicines.
- Optimising medicines, taking a holistic view of both mental and physical healthcare needs.
- Working in off-site community teams co-ordinating the process of medicines optimisation.
- Working in Clozapine clinics providing medicines management support, patient reviews and performing venepuncture.
- Providing physical health and wellbeing advice to patients and staff.
- Discharge planning, liaison with patients, community teams and pharmacies.
Operational support to the dispensing services at the main hospital sites at St Georges Park and St Nicholas hospital by performing regular accuracy checking slots in the department and out on the wards.
