Job summary
As a consultant in working 7PAs a week alongside the multidisciplinary team, including SAS doctors, junior doctors, and wider clinical teams you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.
The post holder will be working across 3 pathways which include PBS pathway, Mental Health Pathway and Physical health pathway developed for Adult learning disability patients. As part of this role there is a population of Learning Disability Forensic patients living within Newcastle upon Tyne for whom the post holder will have RC responsibility. There is an established Forensic Outreach team (SOTT) providing scaffolding support as per the Forensic pathway.
The post holder will be joining a dynamic group of experienced medical and non-medical colleagues who are committed to working hard for the benefits of patients and their families. There are significant opportunities to become involved in service development, and excellent links with local Universities with opportunities for teaching and research, linked to Medical Schools at the Universities of Newcastle and Sunderland.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Skills and Qualities.
Up to date clinical knowledge, clinical skills, and experience, working across CTLD.
Within the service there are patients with both complex physical and mental health needs alongside those with forensic background. There are patients who are on CPA where the Community nurses acts as care coordinators.
Main duties:
- Clinical assessments
- Management and treatment of mental health disorders
- Clinical leadership
- Arrange and lead MDT, expertise and care navigation.
- Working with partner agencies to develop formulation/diagnosis and ongoing care.
- Clinical administration and report writing
- The consultant makes a pro-rata contribution to the out-of-hours rota covering Learning Disability emergencies across the Trust (Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland).
You will have your own office space and will have dedicated administrative support. This is a substantive part time post however we would be happy to consider applicants seeking flexible working.
