Job summary

Applications are invited for an Administration Manager to work across Newcastle and Gateshead Community Administration Services. The post-holder will be one of two Administration Managers covering this patch. Office base is at St. Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth, however successful candidate must be willing to travel to different sites within the Trust

The successful candidate will be operationally responsible for the management of administrative staff, ensuring the delivery of key performance objectives. The role will report directly to the Clinical Business Unit as part of the management team, providing day to day operational support to Associate Directors, Clinical/Service Leads, Managers and Administration staff, communicating with staff at all levels and representing the administrative service at senior management meetings on a regular basis. Werequire the post holder to not only gain an understanding of each service's needs, targets and service user group, but also how administrative staff can support clinical teams to provide service users with the outstanding care they deserve.

Candidates must currently hold the required level of qualifications, as outlined in the Essential Criteria of the Personal Specification. If you do not meet this criteria you will not be shortlisted.

The successful applicant will be supported by the management team in relation to this role and specific areas of their responsibility.

Main duties of the job

This is a demanding and busy role and the successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values and standards of behaviour expected by the organisation and must meet the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the collective management team to design, manage and monitor the development of the admin service/function, ensuring transactional processes are modernised to continuously improve quality, productivity and efficiency of clinical services.

The administration services within Newcastle and Gateshead Community Clinical Business Unit are wide and varied and we are looking for someone who has proven management and leadership expertise as the role involves a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality, the utilisation of negotiation and communication skills, demonstration of empathy, understanding and compassion, and the ability to deal with any challenging situations that may arise. On a day to day basis the successful candidate will be reactive, responsive and flexible to the needs of the teams within the service and the administrative staff who work with them. Candidates must have experience of managing a team, dealing with sickness absence and sickness meetings, co-ordinating annual leave, minuting meetings, staff supervisions and appraisals.
