Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Senior Psychological Therapist or Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) team in the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies (CSPT). CSPT is a centre of excellence and this is a unique opportunity to join our organisation.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with multi-disciplinary colleagues offering CBT to service-users with complex presenting problems. The post holder will be an experienced Senior Psychological Therapist or Senior Clinical Psychologist and will have appropriate professional registration (HCPC/ NMC for example), BABCP accreditation and suitable clinical qualifications (PG Dip in CBT). They will provide specialist CBT assessment, consultation and treatment to adult service users with complex mental health needs in line with service demand. Experience of working with complexity would be advantageous in the field of PTSD, OCD, Depression, Dissociative Disorders or FND, for example. Training in EMDR would also be desirable.
The post also entails providing supervision, advice, scaffolding and consultation to colleagues, and to other professionals on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment in accordance with service needs, across the care pathways. This is a dynamic role for the right applicant wanting to further develop clinical experience in a tertiary care CBT service. Research experience would also be beneficial.

You will be based at Benfield House, Walkergate Park, Newcastle upon Tyne but with the opportunity for some remote working, and potential for travel and flexibility across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.

Essential
- An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health
- Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma).
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner
- Or a member of an appropriate professional body
Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
- Additional qualification in at least one therapeutic model, evidence-based for use with this client group

- Knowledge of the theory and practice of one or more specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the community pathway, e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities.
- Substantial post qualification experience of specialist model specific psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.
- Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a psychological therapist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead.
- Experience of providing clinical supervision.
