Applications are invited friendly, caring and compassionate individuals to work within the Community Acquired Brain Injury Service based at Monkwearmouth Hospital.
The Community Acquired Brain Injury Service (CABIS) - Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside provides specialist community rehabilitation services for people with mild, moderate or complex acquired brain injury (ABI), facilitating individuals to access a range of services.
The service offers specialist multi-disciplinary Neuro-rehabilitation care to individuals and their carers addressing comprehensive needs for functional and emotional support, information and advice, practical help with vocational issues, housing, benefits and care support needs.
The team works to facilitate early hospital discharge from local hospitals to appropriate settings for bespoke rehabilitation, as required. The role will initially be based at Monkwearmouth and Gateshead, later moving into accommodation based in South Tyneside.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be:
- Experience of working in a secretarial or administrator role.
- Fast, accurate typing and note-taking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A good understanding of patient information system would be beneficial, however training will be provided.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
Day-to-day duties will include:
- The provision of named admin support and diary management to identified members of the clinical team.
- Audio typing/formatting assessments, letters and medical reports from central inbox.
- Preparation and taking notes of meetings.
- Processing referrals, discharges and confidential patient information within the RiO electronic system.
- Handling petty cash in line with Trust policies.
- Supporting the day to day running of the admin office.
- Some occasional off site travel is required for training and development purposes.
The post holder will also undertake additional duties such as ordering supplies, requesting repairs and updating rotas and duty sheets. This list is not exhaustive.
