We work alongside a variety of people with severe & enduring mental health difficulties and try our best to understand how a person's motivation, routine, skills, and environment can impact on their activity levels. We strive to work collaboratively to support people in overcoming any barriers to engagement in meaningful activity by working on individual formulations, care plans & goals to enable personal recovery. We also aim to work with a variety of partner agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for people.
We need confident, motivated, kind people with excellent risk assessment & problem-solving, communication & decision-making skills. People who want to develop their OT practice, advocate for OT & to keep learning & developing so that we can improve our Recovery outcomes.
We have many opportunities for personal and professional development, clinical, peer supervision, OT Best Practice Forums & CPD opportunities. This role would suit someone who wants to develop from a Band 5 to Band 6 or a current Band 6 who wants more experience in mental health or community.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties:
Work within the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) throughout the OT process:
- OT assessments eg Occupational Interview & Rating Scale OCAIRs/ MOHOSTs/ Occupational Self Assessments (OSAs), Worker Role Interview (WRI) Work Environment & Impact Scale (WEIS).
- OT formulation, goal setting and care planning ( Parkinson & Brooks 2021).
- Deliver high quality 1:1 OT intervention.
- Develop & facilitate OT groups: Recovery Through Activity/ Wellbeing/ Anxiety groups.
- Be able to review and measure recovery outcomes.
- Be part of the development of the OT pathway and service.
- Advocate for OT within the wider multi disciplinary team.
- Supervision and education of Band 5s and OT student and OT apprentices.

The OT team stretches across the county in North Cumbria. We are a growing OT team who are dynamic and creative. Our local OT/ AHP network is incredibly supportive and you'll get the chance to work alongside other OTs in CTT as well as having connections with the OTs working in the Perinatal and Eating Disorder Teams. We regularly share best practice, learn from each other and come together for CPD workshops and we meet as a group once a month to explore an OT complex case. We also benefit from connections with the wider CNTW AHP network for CPD opportunities eg AHP conference.
The CTTs are busy, interesting, and challenging places to work. We hold complex caseloads and our role is valued within a multi disciplinary team framework. We maintain an occupational focus in the team and contribute our unique perspective throughout a person's CTT journey. We contribute to the screening and triage process, formulations and wider complex case discussions.
