Job summary

OpCourage North are looking to recruit a Veteran with Lived Experience of serving in the UK Armed Forces into the position of Veteran Lived Experience Lead.

OpCourage North - The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is a provider collaborative delivering specialist mental health services to Veterans, reservists and their families across the North of England.

The collaborative is made up of Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust as the lead provider, working with NHS partners Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and Charitable organisation partners Combat Stress and Walking With The Wounded.

We have 5 clinical teams embedded within NHS partner organisations across the North of England, working to one operational model as one service.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Recognised management & leadership qualification at degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant post graduate study or equivalent business management experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and learning.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Must be a Veteran who has served in the UK Military with a good understand of the mental health and wellbeing issues of the veteran population.
  • Experience of supporting operational service delivery and associated governance requirements.
  • Good understanding of Information Technology. Highly proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Organisation of events and high-level meetings, including forward planning and task delivery.
  • Evidence of co-ordination of multiple projects and programmes of work. Working with a range of senior colleagues across multiple sectors and clinical boundaries.
  • Work with external partner organisations.
  • A good understanding of the NHS current priorities and challenges.

Desirable

  • Experience of leading and delivering projects.
  • Experience of Change Management.
  • Evidence of working within strategic roles championing lived experience.

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Demonstrate a broad range of skills including influencing others, negotiation and managing change successfully.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to think logically.
  • Highly developed organisational skills along with the ability to meet competing demands and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and can relate at all levels and in variety of settings.
  • Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills.
