An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist post for Yewdale mixed gender urgent care adult (16 beds) ward at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven. This position is for 10 PAs with option to work minimum 8 PAs. This post will support the services in the North Cumbria Locality. The locality is extremely motivated to support the appointment and suitable considerations will be given with reference to SPA time, travel time and expenses. The post requires one day visit per week for face-to-face work and in order to remain linked with the team. Remote working will be supported as part of the job plan for the rest of the week.
As a specialist in working age psychiatry, you will be leading in the delivery of an innovative hybrid model of care in the inpatient ward that involves a combination of face-to-face work and Telepsychiatry as part of delivering high quality patient care and optimising your work-life balance. You will be part of a well-resourced clinical team. Currently there is a locum psychiatrist who provides 5 PAs remote AC role. Recruitment is also planned for this role that provides some PAs per week Tele-Psychiatry input to Yewdale ward. Overall the aim is to have total Consultant psychiatrist component of 13 PAs into the ward in a mix of remote and face to face working with an overlap of one day face to face for both colleagues for continuity.
Main duties of the job
We look forward to recruiting a dynamic, flexible, innovative, trustworthy, supportive, efficient and inspirational Consultant with vast knowledge and experience in the practice of General Adult Psychiatry in different settings. Excellent communication and teaching skills, proven competence in formulation, establishing diagnoses, ability to influence comprehensive treatment plans and working effectively with patients, carers and MDT's are some of the key attributes that will determine success in this hybrid role including limited face to face work, home working and Telepsychiatry role as a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry for Yewdale ward.
The post holder will also have educational supervision role for an international fellow. Dr Nayeema Shakur provides remote weekly supervision to the other international fellow in the team. There will also be input from a newly appointed Trust Grade Doctor (due to start end October 2023).
Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.
You will have your own office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. We are looking for applicants based anywhere in the UK to explore exciting new opportunities in remote and digital working.
This is a substantive and full-time post however we would be happy to consider applicants available on a part time or fixed term basis
