We would welcome applications from qualified (or about to qualify) Band 7 Clinical Psychologists (or equivalent).
We wish to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist (or equivalent) to join the Older Adult Pathway in Northumberland. This post will be based in Northumberland working in our Community Treatment Teams and our Northumberland Memory Service.
The person appointed will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for older adult clients and families experiencing a variety of complex mental health difficulties. In addition, the appointed person will provide supervision and scaffolding to members of the Community Treatment Team.
Main duties of the job
If possible, the person appointed will also be providing detailed and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of cognitive functioning as part of the Northumberland Memory Service to support the assessment and diagnosis of dementia. These competencies can be developed through a programme of scaffolding and supervision if there are limitations in these competencies.
We are a busy, friendly multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality assessment, formulation and intervention to older adults and their families who are experiencing significant challenges in relation to their mental health, physical health and cognitive functioning. As psychologists, we work alongside our MDT colleagues and partnership agencies to support the psychological wellbeing of service users and their families/carers who live in Northumberland.
The post holder will take a lead role in formulations, consultation, scaffolding, supervision and training to MDT colleagues. We regularly provide teaching and training in psychological ways of working and there will be opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical work. As a team we value clinicians who are creative, flexible, curious and genuine.

As a Band 7, this post provides substantial scope and opportunities for developing special interests in particular psychological approaches, teaching/training, clinical supervision, research, as well as involvement in service development. The Psychology Network is friendly and supportive, there is a thriving network of clinicians providing services to Older Adults in Northumberland, and there is a very active local FPOP branch. Additionally, we have close links with the Newcastle upon Tyne and Teesside Doctorate training courses and regularly have Trainees on placement as well as contributing to the course teaching.
