Job summary

This is a rare opportunity for a CAT Practitioner to join our specialist Cognitive Analytic Therapy service in Newcastle.

The CNTW CAT Service is one of the very few services in the UK focussed entirely on Cognitive Analytic Therapy. Our service is based in the Trust's Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies, alongside the Newcastle Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies Centre, the Regional Department of Psychotherapy, Family Therapy and EMDR services. Our service:-

  • provides CAT therapy to people with complex psychological needs;
  • hosts the CNTW CAT Practitioner, Introductory and Supervisor Trainings;
  • provides CAT supervision to practitioner trainees, practitioners and others;
  • provides CAT scaffolding services (e.g. 5 Session CAT and other forms of CAT consultation);
  • and undertakes service evaluation and research.

We are part of CNTW Foundation Trust, a large mental health and disabilities Trust which is rated as Outstanding by CQC.

Main duties of the job

We are a small team of four, with links across many other services including Community Treatment Teams. The main focus of the role will be on providing specialist CAT clinical assessment and intervention with adult service users with complex mental health needs. Depending on service needs and post holder skills, the role may also involve:

  • Participation in CAT training delivery at Introductory and Practitioner levels
  • Participation in CAT consultation with community clinicians
  • Contributing to service evaluation and research

We hope the post will be of interest to CAT practitioners, and those meeting the person specification who are currently undertaking CAT Practitioner training, who want to specialise in CAT and further develop their skills.

This is a temporary post for maternity cover, lasting 12 months, which can be available as a secondment for internal (CNTW) trust candidates.

About us

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
