Job summary

If so, you could work from the Specialist Clinical Business Unit, to support the delivery of an expert service for people with significant eating disorders across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. The role will cover both the Intensive Day Service at Walkergate Park Hospital, Community Adult Eating Disorders Service and the Inpatient Ward at the RVI in Newcastle upon Tyne

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for developing and providing a qualified specialist psychological service for a designated group of clients within a specific pathway and in a designated locality, and is responsible for professional governance and assurance for that service. This service will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, clinical supervision, advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

The post holder will ensure that the psychological services resources for which they are responsible are integrated into the pathway, and that high quality individualised care is delivered, which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence. The post-holder will lead on recruitment, appraisals and job planning for psychological services staff within their remit and will be appropriately involved in disciplinary and grievance processes.

The post-holder will provide specialist clinical supervision and specialist clinical consultation / advice in accordance with service needs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society. HCPC registere
  • Substantial post qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
  • Non-medical approved clinician

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial further specialist training and experience, equivalent to at least 6 years' experience, including being able to demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional
  • Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological therapy training to a range of professional groups.

  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
