Job summary

This post is primarily based in our medium secure mental health in-patient and community service pathways. A B7 post-holder will assume the role of team psychologist for the rehabilitation/ recovery ward and offer supervision to unregistered staff psychology staff in this environment. They will have a role across secure care services in the new Sycamore Unit which will open in Spring 2023.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide assessment, formulation and individual interventions and contribute to the delivery, development and evaluation of the group-work programmes that operate across the Secure Care services. They will contribute to and participate in the secure care CPD programme including supervision of other MDT colleagues in psychologically informed practice. This post would ideally suit an individual committed to embedding the delivery of trauma and recovery-informed care in promoting psychological well-being and reducing risks.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Accred Doctoral training in Clin Psych
  • eligible for HCPC registration practitioner psychologist

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, including severe and enduring mental health problems, psychosis and personality disorder.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
