Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Trust and be part of a forward thinking, innovative team providing an efficient, effective, and high-quality professional information governance service.

The role of the Information Governance Manager will be responsible for the 'day to day' operational line management of the Information Governance and Medico Legal Teams (IG, Disclosures, Records and Medico Legal services) agreeing their work program, monitoring their progress against agreed timescales and ensuring that the post holders discharge their responsibilities effectively. They will conduct annual appraisals, providing support, guidance and personal development as required. Coach staff in their personal development plans, and delivery against the Key Skills Framework standards.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as the operational lead on all information governance matters, supporting the Senior Information Governance Manager and Deputy DPO in ensuring that the Trust complies with all relevant legislation in relation to information and data governance, including the Data Protection Act 2018/UK GDPR (referred to as 'Data Protection Legislation' hereafter), Access to Health Records Act 1990, Freedom of Information (FoIA) Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulation, common law duty of confidentiality, Caldicott recommendations, National Information Security Directive, Record Management Codes of Practice and all other guidance and best practice published by the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Digital, and I and the Information Commissioner's Office.

The post holder will lead and coordinate team communication, including holding regular team meetings, communicating, and consulting on service changes and developments and acting as a conduit of information between management, the wider Trust, external agencies and the team.

They will support the Caldicott Guardian and SIRO (Executive Directors) in their statutory roles and will support the DPO function.

They will provide expert and specialist advice and guidance to patients, members of the public and staff of all levels and disciplines across the organisation. They will support the team to develop their specialist knowledge.
