Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Secure Care Services as we continue to move forward with the development of the Oswin Unit pathway and model of care. Working as part of the Oswin team the Band 7, Nurse Specialist will play an instrumental part in the ongoing development of the OPD pathway as well as a robust understanding of the psychological models relevant to treatment of PD.

Have a clear understanding of psychological formulation. Establish and maintain therapeutic partnerships with Service Users and Carers in the delivery of assessments and interventions.

The post holder will have excellent skills in communication of complex information both (orally and written) in a highly emotive environment. Effective skills in being able to work as an individual practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with patients on the OPD pathway within an individual and group work setting.

Deliver a range of collaborative and in-house teaching and training to the team. Support ongoing development through a high standard of clinical supervision around case management and patient care with a psychological focus. As well as demonstrate a defined knowledge, understanding and experience of structured clinical management enable reflective practice through the use of supervision as well as having the ability to accept and utilise clinical supervision for the post holders own development.

Oswin is located at Bamburgh Clinic which will relocate to Northgate Hospital in early 2023.

The Specialist Nurse will provide a high level of nursing care and treatment to Service Users accessing the service with high care needs due to their complex difficulties and/or associated risks.The Specialist Nurse will practice autonomously within the Pathway and inaccordance with local and trust Policy, Protocols, Standards and Guidelines.The post holder will be grounded in nursing whilst undertaking advanced practice procedures and highly specialised therapeutic interventions, promoting recovery and Wellbeing and maximising independence.
