Job summary

The Deputy Head of Medical Staffing and Development is responsible for delivering a high quality medical staffing and development service, provide specialist Medical Human Resources advice to Trust managers and employees in accordance with current employment legislation, the Trust's agreed policies and procedures and good employment practices.

What you'll need to succeed:

You should have proven experience of building effective working relationships with people at all levels and enjoy working in a fast paced and busy environment. Previous NHS experience or strong knowledge on the Medical and Dental Terms and conditions would be required for this role.

You will be able to work flexibly to respond to changing service priorities and have the confidence to take decisions at the appropriate level. The ability to influence, engage and negotiate is vital.

Main duties of the job

Working very closely with the Head of Medical Staffing, Recruitment, Education and Development, you will be an experienced Medical Staffing professional with a very strong staffing background, be able to promote multi-disciplinary team working, engage key stakeholders and have the ability to provide expert advice to Medical staff around Medical and Dental Terms and conditions including doctors in training, medical contracts, rotations and rota monitoring. You will support the Head of Medical staffing, Recruitment, Education and Development to provide professional leadership as well as support in driving forward the Medical Workforce strategy.

The role will support the Medical Staffing team to provide professional and expert advice and support to our medical staff trustwide. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of medical managers in all aspects of their service developments and provide expert Medical HR advice and support to heads of workforce, medical directors etc. As part of the wider workforce team you will be involved in organisation wide initiatives.

Desirable

  • Post graduate diploma in HR management or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working at senior advisor level in NHS medical HR
  • Expert knowledge of medical career structures and medical terms and conditions of service; Consultants, SAS and Junior doctors
  • Experience of rota redesign and developing action plans to address issues raised through monitoring exercises and exception reporting
  • Experience of leading a team with demonstrable success in delivering targets
  • Specialist knowledge, including current Employment and Data Protection legislation.
