Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Psychological Practitioner to join our team, who is keen to learn and develop further, as well as supporting the wider team in a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach to assessment, formulation and treatment. Applications are welcomed from Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists and Psychological Therapists.
Aldervale High Dependency Unit is an 18 bedded unit providing assessment and treatment to men over the age of 18 who have psychiatric rehabilitative needs.
Given the nature of the client group, the post-holder will need to be resilient and able to hold a strong sense of hope in the face of adversity; the ability to work well in a team is essential as the successful candidate will be a core part of the team, contributing to the ward leadership team and the development of psychological therapies on the ward. Experience of working in an inpatient environment and an awareness of the MHA is desirable.
There is a strong sense of professional identity within psychological services and the South Inpatient CBU Psychological Services staff meet regularly with the goal of providing mutual support and to develop services in line with the Trust-wide Psychological Services Strategy. We have a number of experienced BABCP accredited CBT supervisors to choose from to provide supervision and you will also be supported by the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Rehabilitation.
Part-time roles will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder is responsible for providing a qualified clinical psychology service to Mental Health and Learning Disability clients in a designated locality, providing psychological assessment, formulation and therapy, and advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.
The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.
Where appropriate the post-holder will provide clinical supervision to lessexperienced staff, in accordance with service needs.
The post-holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy,kindness, respect and dignity.
The post-holder will contribute to training on a multi-disciplinary basis.
The post-holder will utilise research skills for clinical audit, and to inform service development within the remit of the post.
The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
The post-holder will receive clinical and professional supervision from a senior clinical psychologist.
