Job summary
As an Infrastructure Technician you will be expected to develop Digital Services expertise and excellence and ensure network infrastructures, server management and telecommunications deliver benefit to the organisation, work efficiently and securely and provide value for money.
Main duties of the job
The Infrastructure Technician will be responsible for the support, maintenance and development of the Trust's network and telephony infrastructure. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for the configuration, documentation and control of server, network and telephony equipment.
The Infrastructure Technician must be able to maintain and troubleshoot the Digital Services Infrastructure to enable maximum system availability. A key part of the role is to investigate and demonstrate the use of new and emerging technologies which can support and improve ways of working across the organisation.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the Digital Services Out of hours On-Call emergency service.

There are seven Infrastructure Technicians plus three Senior Technicians within the Infrastructure Team.
The team are highly skilled in a number of areas and are responsible for the Server Estate, IP Telephony, Cloud infrastructure and Cyber Security.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Must be educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years' experience working in a Digital Services environment, providing advanced technical support for Microsoft Windows technologies
- Knowledge in the design, installation and configuration of complex, multi-site data networks, including installation requirements of Category 5e and fibre optic local area network cabling, switching hardware used to connect computer and other peripheral equipment.
- Excellent knowledge of PC and Server architectures.
- Excellent ability in working with a diverse range of technical operating systems and applications
- Knowledge of Cloud Environments including Office365 and Azure
Desirable
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience of managing a WAN and LAN rollout including Wireless and Telephony on new / renovated premises.
- Experience of inter-agency (health, social care, academic) technical networking including site boundaries and security issues.
- Experience in training staff in the familiarisation of new technologies and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience of Infrastructure Virtualisation.
- Experience of Cisco Internetwork Operating System for the configuration of associated products
- Knowledge of Cloud Computing and the IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, service models
